In an exciting ceremony this week, EuroHPC celebrated the launch of the very first quantum computer, Piast Q, in Poland. This powerful new technology has the potential to revolutionize industries and advance scientific research in the country.
With the rise of quantum computing, the EuroHPC initiative saw an opportunity to strengthen Poland’s position within the European Union as a leader in the field of quantum computing. As such, the new computer is a testament to the country’s commitment to innovation and progress.
Historic Inauguration

Compound Hybrid Ecosystem
The PIAST-Q is directly connected to the ALTAIR supercomputer of PCSS and soon PIAST-AI HPC system will be connected to generate seamless quantum-classical hybrid work additions. Researchers and organizations in Europe will be capable of running even more demanding tasks – such as quantum optimization, material simulation, machine learning experiments, and others.
European Strategic Impact
Pan-European Rollout: PIAST-Q is the first of 8 quantum systems as part of the EuroHPC initiative to provide quantum sovereignty, with a variety of architectures represented on the scale, in France, Czechia, Spain and Germany. digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu+2eurohpc-ju.europa.eu+2eurohpc-ju.europa.eu+2x.com+3digital-strategy.ec.europa.eu+3therift.ai+3.
