There has been considerable speculation surrounding Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, in recent days. After an article published by X, many people were quick to point out that Musk’s lawyers claimed he does not use a computer, despite evidence suggesting otherwise. This has brought up many questions about Musk’s technology usage and the credibility of his team. Let’s take a deeper look at this controversial claim and the potential impact it could have on Musk’s reputation.
According to reports, Musk’s lawyers made the statement during a legal proceeding. They argued that Musk’s usage of Twitter, a platform he is known for being incredibly active on, was conducted through his phone and not a computer. This came as a shock to many, as Musk is known for his innovative and tech-savvy approach to business. So, the question remains: Is Musk computer-free?
Elon Musk is fighting against the claim made by OpenAI in its fight against him, claiming that the permanent injunction did not follow the discovery process in suing it, and in a bid to defend his position, Elon Musk is claiming that he does not use a computer to oppose OpenAI’s claims. The motion is made as a broader part of a legal tussle between Musk and OpenAI and Sam Altman over alleged non-adherence by the latter to the nonprofit status.
Elon Musk’s attorney, David Hall, alleged in a court filing that the billionaire is not using a computer after OpenAI in its brief has asserted that Musk failed to follow the discovery process in its case against that firm.
In an affidavit sent to the judge managing the OpenAI case in Oakland, Jaymie Parkkinen, the attorney representing Musk, accused OpenAI of lying when the company said that the Musk legal team had no intentions to send any documents over to the company, whether it was Musk himself or any of his other history-making side projects, xAI, which specializes in artificial intelligence as well.
Parkkinen challenged this claim in the letter in which the lawyers of Musk had told OpenAI that searches were being carried out on Musk’s mobile phone and that the billionaire did not use a computer.
The filing read, Plaintiffs sent Defendants a letter explaining that Plaintiffs are searching Mr. Musk’s mobile phone, that they had searched his emails, and that Mr. Musk does not use a computer.
To reveal that Musk used to have a computer, there are a couple of pieces of public evidence.
Last month, to take an example, the billionaire tweeted on X: “Still using my old PC laptop with the @DOGE sticker that a fan created ages ago.” In another post in December 2024, Musk uploaded a picture of a computer, claiming: This is a pic of my laptop. In another February post, Musk stated: I just bought a new PC laptop.
